Functional Movement Screening

Functional Movement Screening (FMS) at Hope Physiotherapy is a specialized assessment tool used to evaluate how well your body moves during basic functional tasks. This screening helps identify limitations, muscle imbalances, and movement dysfunctions that may lead to injury or restrict performance. By analyzing key movements such as squatting, lunging, reaching, and stepping, our trained physiotherapists can detect improper patterns that often go unnoticed in routine evaluations. FMS is especially valuable for athletes, active individuals, and anyone recovering from injury or surgery. It enables us to design personalized exercise and rehabilitation programs aimed at improving mobility, stability, strength, and overall body mechanics. Early detection of weak or dysfunctional movements through FMS helps prevent future injuries, enhances physical performance, and supports long-term wellness. At Hope Physiotherapy, our goal is to ensure you move better, feel stronger, and live pain-free through expert assessment and tailored intervention.

Overview

Functional Movement Screening (FMS) is a systematic process used to assess fundamental movement patterns to identify limitations or asymmetries that may be associated with an increased risk of injury or impaired performance.

Facilities

At Hope Physiotherapy, our Functional Movement Screening (FMS) includes five key tests designed to assess your body’s movement patterns, mobility, and stability. The Deep Squat evaluates overall body mechanics, focusing on joint mobility and core control from shoulders to ankles. The Hurdle Step measures balance, coordination, and hip stability while simulating walking and stepping movements. Shoulder Mobility assesses the flexibility and symmetry of your shoulders and upper back, helping detect postural or movement restrictions. The Active Straight Leg Raise examines hamstring flexibility and core stability, revealing imbalances that can affect gait and performance. Lastly, Rotary Stability tests core strength and neuromuscular coordination during diagonal movements, which are essential for safe, dynamic activity. Together, these assessments allow us to identify dysfunctional movement patterns, prevent injuries, and design personalized therapy programs. FMS is ideal for athletes, post-injury patients, or anyone seeking to move better and live pain-free.

Our Hospital OPD operates from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, providing expert physiotherapy care within a structured clinical setting—ideal for walk-ins, referrals, and follow-up treatments. For those seeking more personalized or extended care, our Private OPD runs from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, offering dedicated one-on-one sessions in a calm and focused environment. Additionally, we provide convenient video consultations, allowing patients to connect with our physiotherapists from the comfort of their homes. This remote service is especially useful for follow-up care, mobility-challenged individuals, or those living in distant areas. With these flexible options, we ensure that quality physiotherapy care is always accessible—whether in-person or online.
